March 25th, 2008
It’s the scent of success that has us storming into stores and buying the fragrances and jewelry of the stars. Almost everyone wants to be young, rich and powerful. Millions of people are buying star scents that made the fragrance industry a booming billion-dollar industry.
They have a secret allure and we love them for it. Who wouldn’t want to be just like Jennifer Lopez? She looks beautiful, has incredible poise and class, and even looks great while she’s pregnant. Born in 1969, she has taken the world by storm and created her own paradise. Becoming a “fly girl” (dancer), on the TV comedy show, “In Living Color” and a backup dancer for Janet Jackson helped propel her into the spotlight.
Starring in the 1997 movie, ” Selena”, and many other movies such as, ” Monster-in Law” and by selling 53 million records worldwide brought Lopez into a national arena. J. Lo’s beauty is evident in the perfumes she helped create-Glow, Miami Glow, Live, Luxe. Deseo, her fifth and newest creation takes J.Lo back to her Latino roots. Her newest creation is set for release in February of 2008, and it has a combination of jasmine, geranium flower, orange blossom, freesia, and sensual musks.
She knows everything about designer shoes. Playing Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker became a household name. Starring in Honeymoon in Vegas in 1992 and continually being in movies throughout her career has helped SJP become a woman almost every young woman wants to be. In 2006 her very popular Lovely fragrance made a scintillating 57 million dollars.
Lovely embodies the soul of a modern woman. It has a fragrance infused with lavender, orchid, and musk. SJP’s new perfume, Covet that was released in early 2007, she describes as being a “more aggressive” fragrance than the “well-behaved” Lovely. Covet is infused with Sicilian lemon, lavender, chocolate, and muget.
Incredibly sweet, sexy gorgeous Jessica Simpson created her own line of Dessert Beauty body products that are so lip smacking good that as Jessica says about Dessert Beauty “they are good enough to eat.” Current boyfriend Dallas Cowboys Quarterback, Tony Romo, gets to kiss the lip gloss right off of Jessica’s lips with her Kissable collection of lip-glosses.
Jessica became a pop sensation in the late 1990’s with her record, Sweet Kisses that sold over 2 million copies. She became a pop icon when she starred in the Reality TV show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. and the movie, ” Dukes of Hazzard,” as Daisy Duke. Her new perfume, Taste will debut in the summer of 2008.
She may be having personal problems that are happening right before our very eyes, but Britney Spears’ Curious and Fantasy colognes have made a cool 84 million dollars.
Britney Spears was born in 1981, joined the New Mickey Mouse Club when she was only eleven. She became a worldwide singing sensation in 1999 with her first record,” Baby One More time,” that was certified Diamond in 2004 by selling 25 million copies. In Control being her latest adventure into the fragrance world by Elizabeth Arden.
Australian singer, Kylie Minogue has been a hit making sensation since her early debut in 1987 with the hit single, ” Locomotion.” Her sweet smelling cologne, Darling, has outsold the Beckham’s colognes in the U.K. where Kylie is incredibly popular. The cologne was made to reflect Kylie’s personality, and is infused with Australian sandalwood, star fruit, and freesia.
Ironically named by INXS lead singer, Michael Hutchence, as a suicide blond in his song, “Suicide Blond”, 39 year old Minogue recently battled breast cancer on her Show Girl tour. She bounced back to sell out Wembley Arena seven times. Her new cologne Sweet Darling was released this year, and has cotton candy accord, juicy passion fruit, and freesia in it.
It’s not a simple life for Heiress Paris Hilton. She’s been incredibly busy. She teamed up with Parlux Fragrances in 2004 and created the cologne called Paris Hilton. After the cologne took off with astronomical sales, they created several more-Just Me, and Heiress. In 2007 the two teamed up again and created a new fragrance called Can Can.
Paris Hilton is a famous wealthy heiress and has starred in the TV show, The Simple Life, with Nicole Richie. Having completed a short stint in jail recently, Paris has written several books, and appeared in a horror movie called, the House of Wax, in 2005. She also made a record, started her own hair extension business and smells wonderful the entire time she is busily making more money.
Supermodel Kate Moss’ creation simply called Kate, recently outsold every other celebrity cologne at the U.K. drugstore-Superdrug and it will be hitting American stores in 2008. Singer, actor, Jon Bon Jovi, recently teamed up with clothing designer Kenneth Cole to create a new scent called R.S.V.P. Shock Rocker Marilyn Manson, Novelist Danielle Steel, and American Idol Judge and singer, Paula Abdul are all entering the fragrance business with their own colognes for 2008.
With the fragrance business making over two billion dollars last year, chances are that your favorite star will come out with a cologne that you adore, in the near future.

So many celebrities, so many perfumes. Having a recognizable celebrity name sure makes any fragrance stand out from the crowd.

With a celebrity name behind it, any perfume will get attention and become a household name whether it’s worth it or not. If you’re a celebrity, people listen.

Agreed that Britney Spears’ Curious and Fantasy colognes are both fantastic! I’ve seen these at the local stores and I think it’s great that Briney is branching out into fragrances.
