In a distant future, the world is a confusing place where dangerous war games are considered sport. Luckily, that isn’t real life, it’s the plot of our new favorite movie Hunger Games! If you haven’t seen it yet, we won’t dish out any spoilers. Instead, we’ll focus our attention on the next best thing to the story–the FASHION!
The costumes are works of art. Even big name design houses like Rodarte, Alexander McQueen and Jean Paul Gaultier got in on the action, constructing pieces for the film’s most glamorous resident, Effie Trinket played by Elizabeth Banks.
Here’s our take on some the Hunger Games fashions and how you can look like your favorite characters:
Jennifer Lawrence/Katniss Everdeen
On-screen, Katniss is a woodsy tomboy. She sports her signature side-braid throughout the majority of the movie. Her style is more functional than anything else–that is, until she become the “Girl on Fire.” Try this Katniss inspired piece to feel like a heroine or some of our back-to-nature pieces.

Jennifer Lawrence may play the adventurous Katniss, but off-screen she presents a softer, more romantic style. Her accessory choices include leverback earrings that compliment her red carpet dresses. She’s also been seen pushing the envelope with classic items that have just a touch of edge, like black gemstone studs.

Elizabeth Banks/Effie Trinket
Effie is anything but demure. She is District 1′s opulent trend-setter and makes no apologies for her outlandish looks. While the style may be a little difficult to pull-off in real life, becoming inspired by her look is easy! Effie Trinket’s most eye-catching styles include over-sized cocktail rings, big gemstone earrings and luxurious necklaces.

The beautiful Elizabeth Banks wears designer fashion, but in a more elegant way. She always looks prim and polished on the red carpet, especially her jewelry. We love her vintage-inspired pieces and hope you do too.
